Benefits of an IUGG Membership

  • allows member country and its scientists to participate in all IUGG activities, including those of the Associations and related scientific bodies;
  • enables scientists of member country to be elected to IUGG office and to be part of a global network of researchers working together on geophysical research topics in well‐established commissions or working groups;
  • enables member country to participate in IUGG governance and to be represented by a voting National Delegate to the IUGG Council which directs IUGG’s affairs, shapes research developments, and decides officer positions through elections;

  • enables scientists from member country to access funding opportunities such as the IUGG Grants Program or IUGG Symposia Support to enhance collaborative international research and provide opportunities for early career scientists;
  • enables scientists from member country to access publications and geoscience educational activities;
  • fosters international cooperation, effective coordination, and science diplomacy increasingly needed for complex global geodetic and geophysical studies;
  • enhances a nation’s scientific prestige by promoting greater international awareness of the contributions of the nation’s scientists.
