Scientific Meetings

IUGG holds general assemblies since 1922 (quadrennially since 1963). If first assemblies gathered only a few hundred scientists, several thousand experts, earlier carrier scientists and students attend IUGG general assemblies nowadays. In-between the IUGG general assemblies, the Union Associations hold scientific assemblies sometimes jointly with other Associations.

IUGG and its Associations sponsor every year many research workshops, symposia and summer schools organized around the world. The list of the meetings recently sponsored by IUGG can be found here. The guidelines for application to the IUGG sponsorship of scientific meetings will assist meeting organizers on how to prepare a proposal, to submit it to IUGG via relevant Association or Union Commission, and to report on the meeting.

The IUGG adopted anti-harassment guidelines aimed at preventing any form of harassment during IUGG and Associations meetings and sponsored activities.
