4. National Report from Slovakia

The quadrennial Slovak National Report has been received and is now posted on the IUGG Web site. Go to National Committee Reports to read this new addition, as well as the reports from the other National Committees. There are 17 Reports now posted. IUGG appreciates the time and effort to produce these informative reports, and we encourage all of the IUGG Adhering Bodies to promote their work in geodesy and geophysics in this way.

5. Geosciences: The Future

A Union Symposium at the Sapporo General Assembly reported the work of a group of young scientists charged with developing a vision for the future of the geosciences. A report on this effort was recently published in EOS (Transactions, American Geophysical Union), Volume 85, Number 3 (20 January, 2004), pages 25 and 31. The article was authored by members of the Working Group: Sam Edlen, Emily E. Brodsky, Taikan Oki, Aaron J. Ridley, Laura Sanchez, Claudia Simionato, Kazunori Yoshizawa, and Uri Shamir (IUGG President and Mentor of the group). We again congratulate these scientists for their excellent report, which is posted on the IUGG web page under Publications/Reports.
