Grand tour of Prague

The insightful historical tour lets you enjoy the city´s most famous sights. The tour starts at Prague Castle (Hradčany), registered as the biggest castle complex in the world. It established itself as the spiritual centre of the Bohemian sovereigns from 9th century and since 1918 (foundation of Czechoslovakia) it has served as the residence of presidents. A visit to St. Vitus Cathedral is included. The tour then follows the “Royal Route”, the former promenade of kings and part of the official coronation by foot. Winding down to Lesser Town where you will cross the famous Charles Bridge and continue to discover remarkable monuments in the Old Town area. This remarkable journey ends in front of the Old Town City Hall with its extraordinary astronomical clock.

Old Town & Jewish Quarter

This insightful historical tour of the Old Town of Prague lets you enjoy the city’s most famous sights such as the Powder Tower, the Estate Theatre, the Charles University, the Old Town Square, the Jewish Quarter and other sights. You will discover astonishing history of the Jewish community in Prague, which can be traced back to the middle of the 10th century. Cruise on the River Vltava with Dinner

This tour offers the opportunity to explore enchanted Prague from the deck of a boat. The river cruise allows you to discover some of the city´s major monuments and sights, while relaxing over dinner or a drink and listening to music or dancing. During the dinner on the boat which is served buffet-style you can admire the illuminated sights of Prague passing the Charles Bridge, the Castle district (Hradčany), the National Theatre, the Vyšehrad Castle etc.

Prague Castle in Detail

The Prague Castle, an ancient symbol of the Czech lands, is the most significant Czech monument and one of the most important cultural institutions in the Czech Republic. The Prague Castle was most likely founded in around 880 by Prince Bořivoj of the Přemysl Dynasty (Přemyslovci). According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the Prague Castle is the largest coherent castle complex in the world, with an area of almost 70,000 sqm. A UNESCO World Heritage site, it consists of a large-scale composition of palaces and ecclesiastical buildings of various architectural styles, from Roman-style buildings from the 10th century through Gothic modifications in the 14th century. The famous Slovenian architect Josip Plečnik was responsible for extensive renovations in the time of the First Republic (1918-1938). Since the Velvet Revolution, the Prague Castle has undergone significant and on-going repairs and reconstructions

A visit includes:  Old Royal Palace, Golden Lane, Bazilik of St. Georg, and St. Vitus Cathedral. The tour then follows the “Royal Route”, the former promenade of kings and part of the official coronation by foot. Tour ends at Lesser Town (close to Malostranska Metro station) after winding stairs down from Prague Castle.

One day guided tours

Karlštejn & Glass Factory

During your visit to Prague you should not miss the large Gothic castle founded in the 14th century by Charles IV., King of Bohemia and Holy Roman Emperor. Karlštejn served as a place for safekeeping the Empire coronation jewels, holy relics and other royal treasures. Located about 35 km southwest of Prague in the Karlštejn village, it is one of the most famous and heavily visited castles in the Czech Republic.

The visit of the castle is also connected with visit of the Glass factory in Nizbor, where thaditional Czech glass is produced.

"Pilsner Urquell" Brewery & Koněprusy Caves - CANCELLED

The tour starts with visit of Koněprusy caves - the largest cave system in the Czech Republic located on the way from Prague to Pilsen.

Plzeň (Pilsen) is a town of beer where the best known Czech Pilsner Urquell beer has been produced. You will have a nice lunch and later in Pilsen museum of beer you will learn more about the brewing history of Czech beer. During your brewery excursion you will visit the modern plants where this delicious beer has been bottled as well as historical cellars. There you also test a sample of beer which has been brewed following an ancient recipe that a lot of worldwide breweries have in vain tried to imitate. In short this tour is packed with experience!

Kutná Hora - CANCELLED

Kutná Hora, medieval centre of silver-mining was the second richest town of the Czech Kingdom. The variety of Kutná Hora architectural monuments and its well preserved structure of town centre reflexes its ancient fame and wealth until present. During your walk in Kutná Hora you will visit gothic church of St. Barbara and Italian Court - originally a Royal Mint. You will no less admire other beautiful gothic, renaissance and baroque burgher houses or the unique stone dwell from 15th century. You also will visit one of the most interesting burial places in the world called Kostnice (Bone church) in a small nearby village Sedlec. This chapel is decorated by more than 40 000 human bones, including e.g. a chandelier or a crest of noble family Schwarzenberg. Kutná Hora town is registered at UNESCO heritage list since 1995.

Part of the tour is visit at Silver medieval mine whee you will be introduced the whole process the silver ore had to undergo until a silver coin was struck. Visitors get acquainted with medieval technology of mining, processing raw silver and minting coinage. The tour includes replica of medieval mine with technical equipment’s, original mining machine powered by horses and original medieval mine. Visitors equipped with a lamp, helmet and mining kirtle with hood go through a 250 m long medieval gallery. The tour is finished in a scenic exposition introducing processing silver ore and minting coins

Two days guided tours

Karlovy Vary (Carlsbad) - CANCELLED

The city with rich history, founded in the 14th century by Charles IV. The world fame of the health resort comes not only from the spa and the international film festival, but also from the local products such as Becherovka liquor and the glass products of Moser Company.

On the first day, you will visit the well-known Moser Glass factory, later on followed by a guided walk in the town centre through the main colonnade through the downtown lined with art nouveau bath houses, luxury hotels and healthy wells. After the group lunch all guests are to be accommodated in the hotel and a free afternoon at each guests’ liberty. 

On the second day, a trip to Loket (Loket means elbow) town with the 12th century gothic castle is planned. The picturesque town is named this way due to the town centre being surrounded on three sides by the Ohře River, and the shape the river takes is similar to that of an elbow. The stone Loket Castle, over 800 years old, dominates the town on a granite solid rock. After the visit to Loket, the trip is to be terminated by return journey to Prague.

Český Krumlov - CANCELLED

Historical town of Český Krumlov is a historical jewel of Southern Bohemia and for sure it pays off to visit the city on own hook, run away with a labyrinth of tortuous lanes and discover hidden nooks in the darkness.

On the first day, after arriving to the city, you will visit the castle’s interiors and later on a guided tour of the city centre follows. After a lunch in a tavern the guests check in the hotel and have a free rest of afternoon and evening.

On the second day, you will set off to see Hluboká nad Vltavou with its famous Windsor style chateau. Originally a royal castle, Hluboka (Frauenberg) was founded together with the neighboring town of České Budějovice in the 13th century by the Czech King Premysl Otakar II. The castle underwent a complex development, and its appearance has been marked by four reconstructions. In 1871, it obtained its present Neo-Gothic appearance thanks to the Schwarzenberg family, in whose possession the castle had been from 1661.

Guidelines & conditions

The Prague historical city centre and the Czech towns are largely paved with cobblestones. All participants are kindly suggested to wear comfortable walking shoes.

  • The organiser reserves the right to cancel any tour in case less than 10 delegates registered.
  • On-site requests for guided tours are welcome but cannot be guaranteed.
  • Make sure you are 15 min before scheduled departure at the specified meeting point.
  • Until 10 April 2015 - 20 EUR administrative fee will be deducted from all refunds
  • From 11 April  2015 till 8 June 2015 - 50% EUR of paid tour(s) will be refunded
  • From 9 June 2015 - no refunds can be processed under any circumstances
